News from the Shows
In early May is staged the Raby Castle Orchid Show, set in the beautiful grounds of Raby Castle, Durham. We arranged a display of Pleiones, which seemed popular. The show is at the end of the Pleione season.
A lovely, friendly show, where we meet many old friends.
June saw us at the Peterborough International Orchid Show held in conjunction with the Eat of England Show. A tremendous range of Orchids are exhibited from nurseries throughout the world. Our first Disa display of the season, interest in them was very good.
Early June is Hampton court Palace Flower show, we staged an 18foot display of disas and achieved a gold medal. The display was very bright and colourful and new seedlings were displaued alongside old favourites like Kewensis, Watsonii and Reheat. Dave and Tracey were privileged to meet H.R.H. the Duchess of Cornwall.
At Hampton Court we met people from all over the world, most are fascinated by the colours of the Disas. The South Africans love them and we are encouraged by their joy.
Later in June we have Tatton Park Flower show, it always feels friendly and a nice Northern atmosphere. Despite very wet weather during the build up we managed to achieve Gold. We had experimented with different staging, although when finished it looked good, we required 400 pots of plants to fill it, again a mixture of new seedlings and old favourites on display.
